LoveSpace pioneered storage by the box in the UK and covers the whole country, with its own vans in and around London and couriers elsewhere. Its list price for a medium box is £12.10 a month (promotions from £3.25 apply for the first period), large boxes and suitcases £22.95, and return delivery is charged from £7.95 a box with surcharges beyond 25 miles and for Saturdays or timed slots.

BoxSpeed is £7.95 a box, £11.95 for a suitcase, with a cap of £99 a month per 250 cu ft. Collection is £39 and return is a flat £39 to any address in mainland Britain, whether that is ten boxes or thirty. Every collection is a van and two crew on your area's fixed day, so bikes, chairs and mattresses come too, not just courier-sized boxes.

• You have more than a handful of boxes, anything that is not a box, or you want a known day, a crew that carries, and one flat return fee anywhere.
